Springfield got its name from the artesian springs around it, and it grew up on the Natalbany River. South of town, Ponchatoula Creek joins the Natalbany on its way to Lake Maurepas. That’s a lot of water close to the ground. When the ground stays wet, the air under a raised house stays wet too. If your ducts run through a crawlspace, that damp air can sweat on them, soak the insulation and get pulled back into your rooms. It’s one reason a house can feel muggy with the A/C running. We start with a load calculation, so the system is sized for your house and not your neighbor’s. We seal and insulate ducts so they stop sweating and leaking. We set the system up to take moisture out, and we clear the condensate drain line so water leaves the house instead of pooling under it.
That’s why we start every Springfield visit with a load calculation and moisture readings, then size, seal and drain the system for the house it’s in.
